The St. Thomas chapter of Sigma Chi is seeking a "sweetheart" for 2010-2011.
Established in 1855, Sigma Chi is one of the largest and oldest college Greek-letter social fraternities. It promotes the concepts of friendship, justice and learning, and its mission statement seeks to develop values-based leaders committed to the betterment of character, campus and community.‘
"The Sigma Chi Sweetheart is held in very high regard and is treated with utmost dignity and respect. She is elected by the men of the fraternity and becomes its female face, helping with events, promoting Sigma Chi and getting to know the brothers on a deeper level," remarked Nick Snidarich of Sigma Chi, Sweetheart recruitment chair. "This is not a beauty contest; the ideal sweetheart must have good moral character, excellent grades, possess outstanding leadership qualities and a strong interest in the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Duties include but are not limited to helping organize events, educating the brothers in etiquette and manners, and publicizing Sigma Chi around campus."
UST women interested in becoming the Sigma Chi Sweetheart are invited to submit an online application or e-mail Nick Snidarich for a paper application. The application deadline is Saturday, April 24.
For more information, e-mail Snidarich or visit the Iota Tau Chapter Web site.
