School of Social Work stages sleep-out in lower quad April 29-30

The School of Social Work invites St. Thomas and St. Catherine students, faculty and staff to sleep outside and experience a night in the life of homelessness on Thursday, April 29. The event is designed to show what it is like to live in poverty and sleep on the streets.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own boxes or tents (no stakes, please!); however, some will be available. Sleeping bags, blankets and warm clothes are recommended.

The event will include real-life stories for increased awareness, and entertainment, from 7 to 10 p.m. The sleep-out will end at  7 a.m. Friday, April 30.

The sleep-out is hosted by the UST/SCU School of Social Work in partnership with Catholic Charities USA Campaign to Reduce Poverty in America, Beta Epsilon Honor Society, Social Work Club, and the MSW Student Association.
