St. Thomas Wins Four Communications Awards

St. Thomas' Marketing, Insights and Communications Department has won four awards, three gold and one bronze, in the annual “Pride of CASE V” contest sponsored by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.

The CASE V region includes Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. The “Best Magazine” category is split by enrollment size, but all of the schools compete together in the other categories.

Here are the St. Thomas winners:

Best Alumni/Institution Magazine (3,000-9,999 student full-time enrollment): Gold Award. This is the fifth straight year that St. Thomas magazine has won the Gold Award. The magazine staff includes editor Brian Brown, managing editor Patty Petersen, art director Sara Klomp and photography director Mike Ekern, and regular contributors are photographer Mark Brown and feature writers Kelly Engebretson, Doug Hennes, Jordan Osterman and Brittany Stojsavljevic.

Excellence in Photography: Gold Award for a 10-photo portfolio submitted by Ekern. His portfolio qualified for the national CASE contest.

Excellence in Feature Writing/Individual: Gold Award for “The Power of Faith, the Necessity of Justice” written by Osterman and published in the fall 2015 magazine.

Best Uses of Social Media: Bronze Award for the #TommieGiveDay 2015 social media strategy created and executed by digital content strategist Kate Metzger.
