  • "Monday Reading Room – Bowl projections from all over America," Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Gazette, Nov. 22, 2009. "That’s a great win for Coe, which will try to double up Saturday in St. Paul when it plays the St. Thomas Tommies in the D-III quarterfinals."
  • "UM Duluth, St. Thomas move on in football playoffs," Star Tribune, Nov. 22, 2009. The Associated Press distributed this report to media throughout the region: "Also in the Minnesota small-college ranks, St. Thomas has advanced in the Division III playoffs. The Tommies beat Monmouth College in Illinois 43-21 on Saturday, and they'll host Coe College of Iowa at noon next Saturday on their campus in St. Paul.This is the first season St. Thomas has won 10 games in school history. Coe won at MIAC rival St. John's 34-27 on Saturday."
  • "Tommies take down Monmouth," The Hawk Eye (Burlington, Iowa), Nov. 22, 2009." Heading into the NCAA Division III playoffs, the eighth-ranked Monmouth College football team had high expectations. The Fighting Scots came into the game boasting the nation's second-rated offense and a gleaming 10-0 record.But those expectations were quickly dashed in the team's first-round game against 10th-ranked University of St. Thomas (Minn.). The Tommies smothered Monmouth's offense as they rolled to a 43-21 win at April Zorn Memorial Stadium."

  • "Faces: Q&A with Jim Burt, owner of We Are Nuts, St. Paul," St. Paul Pioneer Press, Nov. 16, 2009. Burt said "I worked in a grocery store when I was 14 years old. When I was 20, I bought a grocery store on 35th and Lyndale in Minneapolis — one of the Dairy Home stores — and ran it for a number of years. Then, I got tired of it and went back to St. Thomas University and graduated with a marketing degree when I was 30 years old."

"Two clergy days were organized last year within the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis concerning marriage and how priests and deacons can preach about the topic.   •  "Loved Ones Mourn S. St. Paul H1N1 Victim," Fox9 News, Nov. 18, 2009. Jill Belde, a St. Thomas graduate student, is thought to have died from complications as a result of the H1N1 virus.
  • "The Kerri Miller Book Club: 'Moral Man and Immoral Society,'" Minnesota Public Radio, Nov. 18, 2009. St. Thomas' Terrence J. Murphy Institute for Catholic Thought, Law and Public Policy was a resource for this segment.
  • "Thank God for all we've received — but where did it all go?" The Catholic Spirit, Nov. 19, 2009. Associate publisher Bob Zyskowski writes, "When their stories were told earlier this month at the awarding of two $100,000 awards and the $1 million Opus Prize, emcee Carol Bruess from the University of St. Thomas correctly assessed the collective group guilt of the audience: I’d better get started doing something with my life."
  • "Servant Award winner waxes poetic about Downey," The Wave (Los Angeles community newspaper), Nov. 19, 2009. "After being discharged [John G. Vincent] attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., graduating with a degree in sociology. He later earned a master’s degree in biology from Whittier College."
  • "Project: Sanctions not tough," Star Tribune, Nov. 20, 2009. "'Quite frankly from an advocacy standpoint we are quite stymied,' said Jennifer Wright, associate professor of law at the University of St. Thomas. Flynn, a St. Thomas alumnus, tells how he started writing: "And then Al McGuire came and spoke, who coached the Marquette Warriors to a national championship, at University of St. Thomas where I was going to school. He talked about how he was dyslexic and he grew up, he got his way through high school and college cheating. And on a basketball scholarship and went back after they won the national championship and taught himself how to read and write. And I thought, 'If this guy can do it, I've got to do it.'   • "US charities open clinic in Kasubi," The New Vision (Uganda, Africa), Nov. 20, 2009. "According to Charles Lugemwa, the organisation’s country director, the idea was initiated by the Rev. Fr. Dennis Dease, president of the University of St. Thomas Minnesota and Hope for the City, a non-profit organisation also in Minnesota."
  • "Archdiocese Issues Guidelines on Speakers, Award Recipients," AmericanCatholic.com, Nov. 24, 2009. This story was distributed by the Catholic News Service. "For archdiocesan-sponsored programs, the moderator of the curia evaluates proposed speakers, said the policy. If the speaker also would be addressing seminarians at St. John Vianney Seminary or St. Paul Seminary at the University of St. Thomas, 'the seminary administration would need to grant concurrence,' it said."
