- "What price Vikings fandom? Funny you should ask," The Wall Street Journal, Jan. 16, 2010. "Mr. [Aju] Fenn, chair of the department of economics and business at Colorado College, got the idea for his Vikings study 10 years ago, while teaching a sports economics class at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul."
- Business people, St. Paul Pioneer Press, Jan. 24, 2010. "The Opus College of Business, University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis, named Herb Tousley director of its Shenehon Center for Real Estate and director of the college's Master of Science in Real Estate Program."

- Education notes, St. Paul Pioneer Press, Jan. 24, 2010. "Students from St. Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights are volunteering this month in Guatemala and Uganda. One group is working for a Catholic mission in San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala. Another group is teaming up with students from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, to build a chicken coop at an orphanage in Kampala, Uganda."
- "A kid-sized niche," Star Tribune, Jan. 25, 2010. "Slaker reached out to a senior design class at the University of St. Thomas, which came up with engineering plans for the OPOD device. Then an industrial design class at the University of Wisconsin-Stout worked on building an ergonomically friendly prototype based on the plans – a ruby-red polka-dotted tent that looks like a ladybug and is outfitted with oxygen-delivery nozzles that sense and adjust to a child's sleep-time movements."

- "Home prices show stability," Star Tribune, Jan. 26, 2010. "For prices to increase, we need to 'work through those gimmick mortgages,' said Tom Musil, a real estate professor at the University of St. Thomas."
- "Speakers urge Catholics to reclaim marriage's true meaning," The Catholic Spirit, Jan. 27, 2010. "Father Dufner, pastor of Holy Family in St. Louis Park, shared the stage with Teresa Collett, professor of law at the University of St. Thomas."
- "Stillwater Area High School to honor Josh Gunderson," St. Paul Pioneer Press, Jan. 28, 2010. "Josh Gunderson, the University of St. Thomas student who died on a spring-break trip to Mexico last year, will be honored before the Stillwater High School hockey game Feb. 4."
- Charley Walters' column, St. Paul Pioneer Press, Jan. 28, 2010. The sports columnist writes, "The New Orleans Saints' quarterbacks coach is Joe Lombardi, 38, a grandson of legendary Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi and son of former University of St. Thomas football captain-running back Vince Lombardi Jr. Joe Lombardi was born in 1971, nine months after his famous grandfather died of cancer at 57. Vince Jr., who became an attorney and a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, lives in Seattle. After working in the front office of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks, he became an author and today is a motivational speaker. Meanwhile, the Seahawks' new general manager is 1994 St. Thomas graduate John Schneider, whose football career with the Tommies was shortened by injury. Schneider was a student at St. Thomas when he wrote then-Packers executive Ron Wolf, asking that he give him the same break to get into the pro football business that Al Davis had given a young Wolf. Wolf later hired Schneider as a summer intern, and that has led to a 16-year career in the NFL for Schneider, who is with his fourth franchise."

"Spencer Howe, a seminarian of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, was one of 51 students of the Pontifical North American College in Rome to be instituted to the ministry of lector Jan. 17.Howe, whose home parish is St. Paul in Ham Lake, graduated from the University of St. Thomas and the St. John Vianney Seminary last May. The institution of lector is one of the ministries seminarians receive as they proceed toward ordination."

- "Catholic Athletic Association Hall of Fame dinner is Feb. 22," The Catholic Spirit, Jan. 28, 2010. The honoree: Dennis Denning, retiring this year from a long baseball coaching career at St. Thomas and Cretin High School.
- "Obituary: Msgr. Ellsworth Kneal, 92, was noted expert in church law," The Catholic Spirit, Jan. 28, 2010. Kneal was a former faculty member of the St. Paul Seminary, where his funeral was held Monday.
