- “Professor mixes flowers, bees and moral theology,” The Catholic Spirit, July 29, 2010. “Chris Thompson has what could be the ideal classroom in which to teach his favorite subject: moral theology. No, it is not one of the classrooms at St. Paul Seminary School of Divinity, where he serves as academic dean. Nor is it the beautiful chapel that greets those who walk through the seminary’s front door.”

In this column titled “The Boss,” 1987 St. Thomas alumna Angela Selden, chief executive of Arise Virtual Solutions in Maramar, Fla., writes, “Initially I was a receptionist, but I was also responsible for collections. Hearing people’s stories when I asked them for money was eye-opening. I attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, graduating in 1987 with a double-major in accounting and computer science. My senior year, I completed an internship at Arthur Andersen in the audit and tax division. I had a roommate with the same major as mine who worked in the management information consulting division. She enjoyed it so much that I asked to work there when I graduated and the company agreed. This division eventually became Accenture, where I stayed for 18 years.”

- “People in business,” Telegraph Herald (Dubuque, Iowa), Aug. 1, 2010. “Mary Schmid Daugherty, CFA, Ph.D., was appointed to [the Crescent Electric Supply Co.] board of directors. She is an associate professor of finance at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, and is the 17th grandchild of Titus (the founder of Crescent Electric Supply) and Josephine Schmid. She also serves as the program director for the Aristotle Fund, a student-managed portfolio that directly manages approximately $3 million of the University of St. Thomas endowment.”
