Fall Mississippi River Cleanup is Saturday

From Bob Douglas,
Coordinator of Recycling and Central Receiving

Come join the St. Thomas Green Team at the annual fall cleanup of the banks of the Mississippi River. Join other members of the St. Thomas community from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21. The group will meet at the World War I monument at the intersection of Summit Avenue and Mississippi River Boulevard, rain or shine.

The University of St. Thomas Green Team, in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, takes responsibility for cleaning the east riverbank from the Marshall-Lake Street bridge down to the Ford Parkway bridge.

For a great family outing, a random act of kindness, a community service project, or just the enjoyment of beauty and being outdoors – all ages are invited to join in. Bring gloves, rakes, good shoes and enthusiasm. Bags, gloves, coffee and possibly some food treats will be provided for participants who want them.

The fall riverbank cleanup is sponsored by the UST Green Team, Physical Plant, Recycling Team and the Minnesota DNR.

Questions about this event may be addressed to Green Team presidents Abby Gaul and Bernadette Seefeld.
