Help plan events at Student Sustainability Committee meeting today

The Student Sustainability Committee will hold its second meeting of the year at noon Thursday, Oct. 2, in Room 315, McNeely Hall.

Members of UST student organizations who may be interested in participating in the planning and production of events, projects and speakers that promote sustainability on campus, are invited to attend or to send a club representative.

The main topic of will be the Hard Rain exhibit, part of the 30th annual Sacred Arts Festival. The exhibit will be displayed from Oct. 13 to mid-November on the St. Paul campus and from Nov. 24 to mid-December on the Minneapolis campus.

Created by artist Mark Edwards, the photographs in this exhibit depict man's "collision with nature," following the lyrics of Bob Dylan's "A Hard Rain is A'Gonna Fall." The exhibit focuses on social issues such as global climate change, deforestation, world poverty and hunger.

Participants at the SSC meeting will develop plans for peripheral events, including a speaking engagement featuring Edwards and the possibility of another campuswide contest much like last year's YouTube video contest.
