Happy 2010 from Institutional Research and Analysis! We begin “How well do you know UST?” for 2010 with the following question: “What percent of fall 2008 CIRP participants were first-generation students?”
* * *
In 2008, UST administered the Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) survey to incoming freshman students. The data from this survey is used to develop a detailed profile of the entering freshman class. Research was conducted by student researcher Daniel Houle whereby comparisons were made between two groups of UST students: first-generation college students and students who have at least one parent with a college degree. A factsheet, “First Generation College Students at St. Thomas – 2008 CIRP Freshman Survey,” was then developed to present results of these comparisons. The CIRP survey addresses strategic priorities Access (A1d, A2g) and Excellence (E1h, E2b, E4a) in the UST Strategic Plan.
The fifth person who responds at instresearch@stthomas.edu with the correct answer to today’s question will be acknowledged in this column in the Tuesday, Jan. 19, Bulletin Today. Each month, those who submit a correct response to any of the IR&A weekly Bulletin Today questions during the month will be entered into a drawing for a UST coffee mug.
