Leadership Academy announces spring professional development sessions

Spring is on its way – time for new growth and new learning opportunities. That means it is also a great time to register for spring sessions of the Leadership Academy. This UST staff and management professional development program is designed to support the training and development needs of both departments and individuals.

Following is a list of sessions offered this spring through the Leadership Academy. Sessions are offered on both the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses and include many requested topics in the technical series and, back by popular demand, “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.”

Management Series

  • “Emotional Intelligence for Managers” presented by Barb Krantz Taylor, 8 a.m.-noon Thursday, March 23, in Room 155, Murray-Herrick Campus Center.
  • “Delegate for Results” presented by Jerilynn Sushko, 8:30 a.m. -noon Wednesday, April 19, in Room 303, O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center.

Open Series (for all UST employees)

  • “Managing and Motivating Student Employees” presented by Susan McDougall, 10-11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, in Room 303, O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center
  • “Business Grammar Update” presented by Ben Shank, 8 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Room 303, O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center
  • “Building Winning Work Relationships” presented by Jerilynn Sushko, 8:30 a.m.-noon Tuesday, March 14, in Room 301, Terrence Murphy Hall
  • “Advanced Writing Strategies” presented by Ben Shank, 8 a.m.-noon Wednesday, April 5, in Room 303, O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center
  • “Managing and Motivating Student Employees” presented by Susan McDougall, 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, at the Minneapolis campus (location to be determined)
  • “Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Skills” presented by Jerilynn Sushko, 8:30-noon Thursday, May 4, in Room 303, O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center
  • “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People,” a popular seminar presented by Kristen Ireland in seven sessions (28 hours), 8 a.m.-noon Fridays, March 3-April 28 in Room 303, O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center (a fee of $70 to cover the cost of the manual will be charged to the employee’s department)
