Library today: New online research databases available

The following research databases now are available via the UST Libraries History-Primary Sources Web page.

Irish Times (1859-2006)

As part of the ProQuest Historical Newspapers collection, The Irish Times (1859-2006) and the Weekly Irish Times (1876-1958) provide full-text and full-image coverage from the perspective of Ireland's "only independent newspaper."

C19: The 19th-Century Index

C19: The 19th-Century Index is a growing all-inclusive bibliographic spine for 19th-century research. C19 is a one-stop finding tool covering multiple content types, providing records for millions of documents ranging from books and newspapers to government documents and periodicals at the article level. This index includes indexing information from Poole's Guide to Periodical Literature as well as the Wellesley Index to Victorian Periodicals and to Archive Finder (includes information on non-19th-century collections).

ProQuest Civil War Era

This digital collection provides access to nearly 2,000 pamphlets and complete runs of eight newspaper titles, covering the period 1840-1865. These primary source documents span the entire era – from Manifest Destiny through the end of the Civil War – enabling researchers to investigate not just the battles, but also the rising tensions that led the country to war.

British Periodicals II

British Periodicals provides access to the searchable full text of hundreds of periodicals from the late 17th century to the early 20th, comprising millions of high-resolution facsimile page images. Part II completes the collection.  To see lists of the titles covered, view the British Periodicals Web page.
