Festivities for the annual Library Week at St. Thomas launch Monday, April 15, again with a winding "Domino Kickoff" of books at 11:55 a.m. in the rotunda of O'Shaughnessy-Frey Library. Festivities will continue through Friday, April 19.
National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use.
The following events will run at St. Thomas throughout the week.

- Daily Online Trivia Contest
UST Libraries' Research and Instruction Librarian Eric Kallas will think up the tricky questions again this year. A prize is awarded each day to the winner drawn from all correct entries submitted by the daily deadline. See trivia contest details here. - Food for Fines Drive
UST Libraries will hold its fifth annual Food for Fines Drive, which will run Monday, April 15, through the end of May. UST Libraries patrons may visit O’Shaughnessy-Frey and Ireland library locations to donate canned food in lieu of paying library fines: One can equals $2 in fines. Food only will be accepted for overdue fines, not for lost or damaged items. The recipient of all food collected this year will be the St. Paul Area Council of Churches food shelf. This little “Tommie Loves Libraries” image will be placed throughout the OSF and Ireland libraries in St. Paul and the Charles J. Keffer Library on the Minneapolis campus. This isn't a standard scavenger hunt with clues; students should search for the cards and take a picture of themselves with as many as they can find. (Be creative!) The student who shares the most pictures on Facebook, Twitter (#ustlibraries) or Instagram (#ustlibraries) wins a prize. - Used Book Sale: O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library

Tuesday, April 16
- Performance by the Arpeggione Duo of Chris Kachian on guitar and Thomas Schönberg on cello
7 p.m. Great Hall, second floor, OSF Library
The duo, both of St. Thomas' Music Department, will perform selections by J.S. Bach, W.A. Mozart, jazz duets by Joe Pass and Herb Ellis, and "Chinese Suite," arranged by Shönberg. This will mark the first time the OSF library has held a concert in its Great Hall (pictured above), noted for its stained glass windows and vaulted ceiling. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Wednesday, April 17
- "Online Library Research Skills for Non-traditional Students" Workshop
5:45-6:45 p.m., Archbishop Ireland Memorial Library, St. Paul south campus
Curt LeMay, director and theological librarian at Ireland Library, will teach a library skill workshop, "Online Library Research Skills for Non-traditional Students." This is a workshop for St. Paul Seminary and School of Divinity's mature, adult and/or graduate students who would like a review on online library resources for their assignments, research papers and theses using the library’s online theological resources. While this evening workshop is designed with the SPSSOD part-time or returning graduate students in mind, seminarians and other UST students are welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring their personal laptops.

A discussion facilitated by Mark Anfinson, practicing attorney and adjunct professor in the Communication and Journalism Department, and Steve Cole, Music Business program director and recording artist, will follow this 17-minute documentary. The film addresses talking points from RiP: A Remix Manifesto and explores the tensions between preserving ideas and creative works in the public domain to be used freely by anyone; with the need to fairly compensate authors for the work that they create. Bring a brown-bag lunch. Beverages and a light dessert will be provided.
