Public Safety issued a bulletin Wednesday, May 16, updating the University of St. Thomas community about recent incidents that occurred on campus. Public Safety is sharing this information to highlight that officers were able to respond and apprehend suspects due to immediate notification from UST community members.
- At 5:20 a.m. Sunday, May 13, Public Safety officers responded to a report of a male suspect tagging the Anderson Student Center with graffiti. Officers responded to the area and found the suspect tagging additional property. The suspect was placed under arrest by officers, and the St. Paul Police Department was contacted. Several more buildings and structures on campus were found to have been tagged. The suspect was identified, trespassed from campus and transferred into custody by the St. Paul Police Department.
- At 3:25 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, Public Safety officers responded to a report that several male suspects were cutting bike locks and riding away from Ireland Residence Hall on bikes. Officers responded to the area to search for the suspects. One suspect was located by officers in possession of a stolen bike. The St. Paul Police Department was contacted. The suspect was cited by police for theft, trespassed from campus and released.
- Early on the mornings of May 15 and 16, officers found several bikes with cut locks at bike racks around campus. These bikes and other related items were secured as found property inventory. Students who are missing bikes are asked to check with the Public Safety to see if their bikes were taken into custody.
