Scholarship offered for commuter students

Scholarship offered for commuter students

Thanks to the generosity of alumnus John Mielke, a scholarship is offered to assist a UST commuter student who would prefer to live on campus but doesn’t do so because of the cost. This student may even be struggling academically due to the commute (cost, length, etc.) and due to the amount of time they have to spend working.

Up to $3,880 will be awarded exclusively toward the cost of room and board (not parking, tuition, books, etc.), helping a student to move onto campus during the spring 2006 semester. This is a one-year award that may or may not be renewable at the donor’s option.

Applications for the John D. Mielke Scholarship are due to the Dean of Students Office, Room 101, Murray-Herrick Campus Center, Mail #5041, by Friday, Nov. 18.

The person(s) selected will be asked to report on the ways in which living on campus positively impacted their overall experience at UST at the end of the spring 2006 term.

If you have questions about the scholarship and applications, contact the Dean of Students Office, (651) 962-6050.
