Selim Center talk by Minnesota Historian Can Be Heard on MPR at Noon Friday

A talk by Minnesota historian Dr. Annette Atkins, a professor at St. John’s University and the College of St. Benedict, will be broadcast at noon Friday, Oct. 18, on Minnesota Public Radio’s “Midday” program.

Atkins is known to many MPR listeners through her visits with Cathy Wurzer on MPR’s “Morning Edition.”

Atkins gave the talk last week as part of a history tour to Stillwater that was sponsored by the Selim Center for Learning in Later Years at the University of St. Thomas.

In her talk, she says every place has a history, and she shows us how to look for it.  While her talk focuses on Stillwater, Minnesota’s oldest town, she weaves into her remarks stories about other Minnesota places as well.

Atkins’ talk can be heard on MPR’s news and information station, KNOW, at 91.1 FM.
