Association for Strategic Planning Presents Breakfast Talk Sept. 27

The Association for Strategic Planning presents “What Does the Future Hold? A Business and Economic Outlook” at its Fall Breakfast Series on Tuesday, Sept. 27. Dr. Jim Paulsen of Wells Capital Management will speak on the economy and business, and offer perspectives that will help organizations overcome current challenges and move to the next level.

His presentation will examine the challenges that prevail everywhere and impact everyone with the approach of the fourth quarter of the year. With an election year looming, he’ll talk about what Americans and the world will look like both economically and businesswise.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. followed by breakfast and networking. The presentation and discussion will be held from 7:45 to 9 a.m. in Room 202, Opus Hall, on the university’s Minneapolis campus.

Cost of the breakfast presentation:

  • $25 – students and members (members will pay $30 at the door)
  • $35 – nonmembers ($40 at the door)

A 20-year veteran of the investment management industry, Paulsen is the chief investment strategist at Wells Capital Management. He is responsible for developing investment strategies that assist in the management of separate institutional account assets as well as mutual and collective investment funds.

In 1997 he joined Norwest Investment Management Inc., which later combined with Wells Capital Management. Previously he was the senior managing director and chief investment strategist for Investors Management Group in Des Moines, Iowa.

Barron’s financial magazine added him to its 12-member panel of elite economists in 2002. Business Week named him Top Economic Forecaster for 2001, and BondWeek named him Interest Rate Forecaster of the Year in 1998 and 2000. He often is quoted in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Los Angeles Times as well as other national publications.

Paulsen earned his bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in economics from Iowa State University, Ames.
