Teeter-Totter Marathon starts tomorrow
From the Ireland Hall Council
For the past 17 years, the men of Ireland Hall have been part of a great annual tradition to raise money for the Harriet Tubman Family Alliance in Minnesota. The Tubman Family Alliance is the largest single provider of family violence services and prevention programming in the greater Twin Cities metro area.
The Ireland Hall Council will kick off the 18th Annual Teeter-Totter Marathon on Saturday, May 5, with a cookout for the men of Ireland Hall only. Representatives from the Tubman Family Alliance will be present to spend time with and thank the volunteers.
Teeter-Totter Marathon
The men of Ireland Hall and other guests will take one-hour shifts for the duration of the marathon, teeter-tottering nonstop for 72 hours, from 5 p.m. Saturday, May 5, to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 8.
To date, the men of Ireland Hall have raised more than $2,500 through sales of sweatshirts, but your help is needed to reach the goal of $4,000 by the end of the marathon on May 8. Please donate as little or as much as you can afford.
How to make your donation
Here are two ways to donate to the Tubman Family Alliance during the marathon:
- Place your cash and checks in the bucket next to the teeter-totter, which will be located from 5 p.m. Saturday, May 5, to 9 a.m. Monday, May 7, outside the south entrance to Ireland Hall. It then will be relocated to Foley Plaza where volunteers will continue from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, May 7 and 8. The Ireland Tommies will teeter-totter bravely even in the rain; however, if there is a thunderstorm, look for them in Murray-Herrick Campus Center or, during the night, in Ireland Hall basement.
- Send your donation by campus mail to Ireland Hall Teeter-Totter, Mail #5052.
On behalf of the Harriet Tubman Family Alliance and the men of Ireland Hall, we thank you in advance for your support.
