The Human Resources Department at the University of St. Thomas is giving its glass display cases on the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses a facelift. The wall-mounted cases contain federal- and state-required employment and labor law signage – among them are posters for federal and state minimum wages, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
The posters serve as notices to employees of their rights under specific laws, and employers are expected to post them in conspicuous locations.
On the St. Paul campus, the display case will remain across the hall from the Human Resources Department, AQU217, in Aquinas Hall. On the Minneapolis campus, the department will create a new display case on the wall adjacent to the Food for Thought entrance in Terrence Murphy Hall. Another display case also resides at St. Thomas’ Daniel C. Gainey Conference Center in Owatonna, Minn., in the lower-level employee break room.
In the past, the posters were displayed at various bulletin boards across both campuses as well as at the Gainey Center. Terri Sheehan, employment services manager and human resources partner at St. Thomas, said “The good news is that by consolidating this information into three campus specific locations, we can ensure our employees that they will be viewing accurate, timely and up-to-date information regarding employment and labor laws.”
If employees should see outdated posters on any other bulletin boards they are encouraged to contact Human Resources, 2-6510.
