Dr. Paul Gavrilyuk, Theology Department, College of Arts and Sciences, is the author of “The Greek Church Fathers and Philosophy,” published in Theology and Philosophy: Faith and Reason, Oliver D. Crisp et al., eds., (London: T&T Clark, 2012), 17-30.

James Rogers, Center for Irish Studies, is the author of an article titled “'Tis,’ Meaning Maybe: The Uncertain Last Words of Angela’s Ashes,” published in the current issue Études Irlandaises, a journal of Irish Studies published by the University of Rennes. Rogers argues that the closing chapter of the memoir, which consists of the single word “Tis,” is much less upbeat or conclusive than previous critics of Frank McCourt’s blockbuster have believed it to be. 

Dr. AnnMarie Thomas, School of Engineering, was a featured speaker at TEDxTC on Nov. 20. Her talk, “How Are Makers Made?” looked at the importance of hands-on experiences for children. She also was an invited speaker at the 2011 Big Ideas Fest, held Dec. 5, in Half Moon Bay, Calif. Her talk, “Serious Play Dough: Encouraging Young Circuit Designers,” described the design process used to create squishy circuits.
