Sights and Sounds: Opening Day at 'The Penny'

Honor Dia de los Muertos, All Souls Day, All Saints Day

Dia de los Muertos
All Saints Day is Nov. 1, but the celebrations started this week. Campus Ministry invites all to participate in the All Saints' Day celebration on Friday morning, Oct. 31, from 7:30-9:30 a.m. outside Koch Commons, where Peer Ministers will offer chocolate, share about the saints, and give away prayer cards and Tiny Saints keychains.
Campus Ministry is highlighting All Saints Day as a reminder that we are all called to holiness.

Sunday, Nov. 2 is All Souls Day and also Dia de los Muertos. One of the traditions highlighted by Hispanic students is el Dia de los Muertos, which is celebrated with beautiful altars as an offering of remembrance. There will be two Dia de los Muertos altars displayed on campus, one at Scooter's sponsored by HOLA! and one by Campus Ministry in the Iversen Center for Faith.

Please RSVP by Thursday, Oct. 30, to join the St. Thomas community as we gather during the Vespers of Remembrance service on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 6:30-7:15 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas to remember our loved ones who have passed. The evening will feature psalms and music interspersed with prayers and moments of silence. Following the service, there will be a reception with light refreshments in Iversen Center for Faith's Schoenecker Hall. RSVP by Oct. 30 to join for the reception.

Resident Advisors Help Students Find Community at St. Thomas

Students, staff, faculty and the St. Thomas Board of Trustees gather to announce a state record-setting gift for scholarships, along with the renaming of Tommie North Residence Hall. The gift came from the Schoeneckers Foundation, a nonprofit established in the name of alum and longtime donor Guy Schoenecker and his wife Barbara. Tommie North Residence Hall was renamed to Schoenecker Hall North. The event took place on the St. Paul campus on September 19, 2024.
