St. Thomas Surpasses $131M Fundraising Goal for Lee & Penny Anderson Arena

In a record-setting moment, the University of St. Thomas exceeded its fundraising goal for the Lee & Penny Anderson Arena, raising more than $131 million. It is the largest single fundraising campaign for a campus facility in St. Thomas history. Set to open in October 2025, the arena will serve as the new home for St. Thomas men's and women's basketball and hockey programs.

Highlights include Sustainability Trivia, Talking Trash with the Sustainability Club and OSI, and the Mississippi River Cleanup.

April 24: Discover Research Opportunities at Faculty Lightning Talks

In conjunction with Research Week, projects from across campus will be highlighted at the 2025 Faculty Lightning Talks. From virtual reality and zebra finches to microbiomes and energy efficiency, there's a lot of work happening on campus. Come to hear faculty discuss their projects and learn about partnering with professors on future research. The event gets underway at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, in the Iversen Center for Faith.

Rachel Moran, a professor at the School of Law, spoke to KARE 11 about the Minneapolis Police Department encrypting radio communications, along with potential citizen concerns for the restriction of information.

Dr. Roxanne Prichard, psychology and neuroscience professor at the College of Arts and Sciences, was quoted in a Live Science article on how the human circadian rhythm and lifestyle factors can play into pre-bedtime energy bursts.

Dr. Manjeet Rege, the director of the Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence at the School of Engineering, spoke with WCCO-TV about a new facial recognition program at Target Field.
